With all the craziness going on in the world today, I am more and more convinced that it’s important to know what you believe. And that you believe the truth. Hurricanes, wildfires, North Korean threats, disease; we just don’t know when death is coming. And after death is either heaven or hell.
Thankfully, it’s so easy to know where you’ll end up and to face the unknown future with a peace that surpasses all understanding.
First, know that God loves you.
Yes, you. All of you. The good parts, the ugly parts, the parts you’d rather hide. He loves you. So much that He sacrificed His only SON for YOU. That is love. John 3:16 “For God so loved the world, that He gave his only son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life.”
Second, know that you are a sinner.
We are born with sin in our hearts. Romans 3:23 says “all have sinned and come short of the glory of God.” When we die, our good deeds will NOT be weighed against our bad. Not even the very nicest person is good enough to get into heaven. Romans 6:23 says “the wages of sin is death.” All of us only deserve hell.
Third, know that God loves you.
God knows none of us are good enough to get to Him on our own. So, He came up with a plan. The plan of salvation. He sent his son, Jesus, in human form to the earth to DIE for us. His blood alone can get us to God. Romans 6:23 says “the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.” Through Jesus, we can have full access to God and the peace of mind that heaven will be our eternal home.
Fourth, know salvation is through Jesus alone.
Nothing we can do, however hard we try, will be enough to get to God. Jesus alone can do that. Romans 10:9 says “If thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God has raised him from the dead thou shalt be saved.” And Romans 10:13 says, “For whosoever shall call on the name of the Lord, shall be saved.” Jesus died and rose from the dead to prove that he alone is the only person able to save you. But you have to want His gift of salvation. Repent of your sin. And ask Jesus to save you.
Truly, it’s that simple. I beg of you if you don’t know where you’re going when you die, call on Jesus. He will lead you into a life of peace, a life that has no need to fear the future.
